Were Lakshmi Chaudhry and Pat Archbold
forced to sit down for a dinner date, I can't see a reason why these
authors wouldn't certainly agree with one another regarding their
views on gender norms and ideals. Both seem to share the opinion that
there are notable declines in our standards for men and women and
what each gender should strive
to be. Sorry to say, but I also don't feel like Archbold would be well-equipped for a
discussion with Chaudhry, who clearly did her homework and brought to
the table a much more fleshed-out opinion piece. Archbold's writing
felt very surface level and I'd imagine that he wouldn't be able to
contribute much to a discussion with Chaudhry, and would rather take
on the role of a student in this scenario. Chaudhry seems the type
who would potentially be vehement and aggressive in her stances, though, and may
easily become frustrated with Archbold sitting across the table
trying to keep up. Regardless of the depth of their arguments,
however, both authors seem to take note of the same perceived core
trend in society, and there's a great chance that their table at
dinner would simply turn to an echo chamber, where two social
conservatives can rant and whine about the “the good ol' days”
and refuse to understand that cultures change over time.
