Author Chaudhry of “Men Growing up to Be Boys” and author
Archbold of “The Death of Pretty” would get along just perfectly. If these two
authors had the chance to sit down and have a conversation they would discuss public
perception. I say this because the public view and how it’s changed overtime is
a big component of both of their articles. Chaudhry’s main argument is that men
are more comfortable with the idea of being a boy for an extended amount of
time. Therefore having less responsibilities and never actually settling down versus
getting a job, getting married, or having kids. Archbold’s main argument is that women don’t value
or want to be simply just pretty anymore. Woman and young females would prefer being
the hot wild chick over the pretty innocent girl. Why? Because that’s what we
as woman believe to be appealing to men now a days. When in fact the public perception shows that
men would rather settle down with a girl who is pretty and portrays herself to
be more innocent. I believe each author would agree with one another, because essentially
they’re talking about very similar things. They are both analyzing the world in
a social aspect and recognizing the flawed newly developed ideals that society
has made for itself. In saying all of
that I believe that the conversation between both authors would be pleasant,
and very insightful for one another.
