Boys will be boys and girls will be girls...right?

If Lakshmi Chaudhry and Pat Archbold were to sit down and have a meal with each other, whatever exchange they end up having, in my opinion, would be a pleasant and agreeable one. While the two articles they wrote differ from each other due to gender, the ideas that they are both addressing tie together. Chaudhry describes her point perfectly when she describes men as "an adult teenager who spends his time sneaking off to hang out with the boys, eyeing the hot chick over his wife's shoulder, or buying cool new toys," which is insinuating that men are looking for the newer and better thing. (I personally disagree with this statement, but that's not the point of this assignment.) Archbold then goes on to describe women in his article by saying "young women today do not see to aspire to be pretty, they prefer to be regarded as hot," and these two points that were made in the two separate articles show how great the authors would get along. They are basically saying that women only want to be looked at by men, so they dress hotter, act more promiscuous and essentially lose any innocence they have to appeal to the men who probably still live in their parents basement and play World of Warcraft on weekends. Men nowadays, in Chaudhry's opinion, only want the hot and beautiful women and women nowadays, in Archbold's opinion, appeal to those same men by losing all innocence and acting "hot" to feel wanted. Bam, they would be best friends after making that connection.

  1. Imagining myself at this hypothetical dinner i would agree with their ideas and opinions, without letting them know. I would be the instigator, asking questions to keep the discussion hot, not even giving the waiter a chance to take our order. i would ask for a party platter for all of us and allow the evening to pass by listening to them blame the media, corporations, celebrities as poor role models, etc. and once the check is payed i'd just finish off the evening with a comment on how weak human nature is, how gullible our society is, and really, how its our own fault for eating it all up and redefining our culture based on movies and books.
