Different Views, Same Side

What both of these authors share is their hate for change. Pat Archbold wrote "Death of Pretty" to express how much he hates how people see each other now. He accuses certain things and "feels sorry" people like Olivia Newton-John had to "debase" herself to achieve what she desired. He expresses his own opinion on what he finds attractive on women, and critiques everything that disagrees with him. It is true that words like "pretty, hot, beautiful" all hold different weight, but the way he accuses the film "Grease" felt very personal and it disagreed with what he found attractive. On the other hand there's Lakshmi Chaudhry who shared how much she hated how men were changing in "Men Growing Up to be Boys". She relates "commitment" to "woman's goals" because it's not defined and understood as "emasculating". If these two had dinner together there would be some arguing, some tension, but in the end I believe they would recognize their common ground and find everything they believe to be the same but just on different sides. They blame todays generation on "emasculating" or "not aspiring to be pretty" when in reality the world is changing. I'm sure before they were born there were different standards and different views, but the world changes, and I think they should recognize that. I don't agree with them, but I respect what they believe.
